LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Oral Surgery Department is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2 in our Baton Rouge location.

Compensation: There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title and $14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 title. Additional compensation includes $1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only. $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification. $1.50 for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
Minimum Qualifications: No experience or training required.

Job Duties and Other Information: Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting dentist and dental students with chair side treatment of patients, maintaining and stocking cabinet, instructing and evaluating students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques, charting patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium/WinOMS Computer knowledge), giving follow-up home instructions as directed by the surgeon, resident, or student, implementing and maintaining infection control in the work area, checking inventory and ordering supplies when needed, implementing and following safety guidelines as set forth by LSUHSC School of Dentistry and OSHA, knowing dental and surgical terminology, knowing correct nomenclature of all dental instruments, and being knowledgeable of computers.
